    in ORANGE the 2023 changes

    1. Game elements

In order to be able to play the game the players must suscribe to the Sign Up 2023 Season - https://wtaguess.forumfree.it/?t=79438917 - and choose an available nation and their favorite surface.
If a player has no nation assigned to their name, they wont be able to play the game.

It's strongly forbidden to play with more than one account. Our game is based on a fair competition among all the players, having two or more account can make the experience unfair.

Starting from June 2022, if a player breaks this rule they will be immediately banned with all their accounts.

    1a. Schedone
A schedona is a topic that will be released every day with all matches from the following day. You have to point the name of the winner and the precise amount of the sets played. (Ex: Ivanovic – Jankovic 2-1).

    1b. Scores
The score done by a player for every single match predicted is:
    - 5 Points if you have guessed right the 2-1 result
    - 4 Points if you have guessed right the 2-0 score
    - 3 Points if you have guessed right the winner but not the set betting.

For Example: the final results is Ivanovic – Jankovic 2-1
If you have predicted "Ivanovic – Jankovic 1-2" you will gain 0 point (wrong winner)
If you have predicted "Ivanovic - Jankovic 2-0" you will gain 3 points (right winner but wrong set betting)
If you have predicted "Ivanovic – Jankovic 2-1" you will gain 5 points (right winner and set betting)

1c. Retirement of a tennis player
In case one of the tennis player retires during a match, the player who guessed right the winner of the match will gain only 3 points. If the tennis player withdraws before the starting of the match or before the ending of the first set the prediction about that match won’t be counted.

In a round with long schedonas you will have to complete a long and detailed prediction. If a player retires mid-match (even before the ending of the first set), the count of the games played will be as if the winner of the match hasn’t lost a game till the end of the match since the moment of the retirement. (For example if a player retires on 4-4 first set, we will count that match as a 6-4 6-0 score).

    1d. Sending of your predictions
You must send your predictions to one of the two Staff accounts (WtaGuess Staff e WtaGuess Staff2) based on what it is written on the schedona.
If you have technical problems you can send via dm or to WtaGuess twitter account or via pm (Twitter or Facebook) to one of the staffers.
If a player forgets to send his schedona, the player, even if not replaced by a LL, has no chance to win his round (exception made if his opponent is in the game exact situation).

We WILL NOT accept predictions that have not been send.
We WILL NOT accept predictions sent by a user on behalf of another user, each member of the site has to send his own predictions.
We WILL NOT count the predictions that contain mistakes, for example 3-0, 1-1, q-0 (you can put whatever SYMBOL you prefer in between the two numbers).
If a player forgets to send JUST one of the two/three round schedona, he-she will give a walkover to the opponent.

1e. Deadline for sending your predictions
The deadline to send your schedonas is the one indicated in the post of that day.
Example: if the deadline is at 13:00 (1 pm), the schedonas sent after 13:01 (1:01 pm) WON'T be accepted.
Example 2: if the deadline is at 13:00 (1 pm) and the matches get delayed (due to weather issues, etc.), the schedonas sent after 13:01 (1:01 pm) WON'T be accepted.
Example 3: even if the Staff shares the schedonas a few hours after the deadline, the only valid schedonas are the ones sent BEFORE the deadline.
In case of Staff’s fault, all the matches started before the deadline will be canceled.

1f. In case of a tie of the final score
In case the final scores between two players will be the same, the player who is better (following the order) at those listed points will win:
    0) bigger number of guessed winners in the round
1a) closer result guessed in first ‘tie break’
1b) closer result guessed in the second ‘tie break’
2a) sum of scores in the tournament, excluding eventually 'bye' round
2b) bigger number of guessed winners during the whole tournament
    3a) better ranking
3b) better ranking in the race

    1g. Tie Break
    a) Player A guessed right the winner and B doesn’t --> A wins
    b) Both guessed the right winner. A guessed right the set betting, B doesn’t --> A wins
    c) Both guessed the right winners but wrong sets number, the player who is closer to the number of the games wins
    d) Both guessed the wrong winner. Only the player who gave a set to the winner wins, otherwise the tie break is not valid.

The Tie Break will be canceled if
    - The match is canceled
    - One of the two tennis player retires (before or during the match)
    - Both players have identical tie breaks prediction
    - Both players guessed the wrong winner and gave no set to the tennis player who won the match.
In the double competition, only the predictions of one player of each team, who gets closer to the final result, will be counted. In case of another tie the predictions of the other two members of the team will be compared. If the tie persists we will proceed as already explained right above here.

    Long schedona points system
Winner + right set: 30 points
Guessed only the winner: 22 points
Variance set: if 2 (pick 2-1 and result 1-2): 10 points
Variance set: if 3 (pick 2-1 and result 0-2 or pick 2-0 and result 1-2): 8 points
Number of game in final: 6 points MINUS (difference in game between pick and result)
If the number of games guessed is correct --> 6 points, if you are wrong by one game (6 MINUS 1) --> 5 points, if you are wrong by seven games --> 0 points
Number of long set (7-5 or 7-6): 1 point if corrected pick

    1h. Winner
Whoever collects the highest score wins the match and moves to the next round in the tournament. Only the matches completed in the days dedicated to the that round in progress will be counted for the final score of each player. (If some matches will be postponed due to weather conditions they won’t be counted if the tournament round in WtaGuess ends that day).
The postponed matches, not started at all, will be put in the schedona of the following day.
A round is considered over when:
    - In Slams and WTA 1000 ALL the matches in the schedona/s round are over;
    - In all the other events when 67% (⅔) of the matches of the WtaGuess round have been completed

    2. Entry list

    2a. Signing in
Every week has 2 or more WTA tournaments. Each player can choose in which tournament signing in posting his choice in the specific section of the “Entry List” reserved for that week. The DEADLINE for signing in is usually on Friday 12 CET.
The tournament director has the possibility of awarding a WC by the deadline time.
In the Entry list the players will be listed following the order of their rankings during that week. If two or more players have the same amount of points the player who signed in first has the priority. When a player signs in for a specific tournament he CAN’T edit his comment and change the tournament originally chosen.
If a player doesn’t make the cut off for the Main Draw of a tournament either in single or double he can participate to the ITF tournament of that week (there is no EL for the ITF, in order to play the ITF the player has just to send the qualification schedona).

    2b. Qualification Draws
In tournaments with a 16 players MD, we will have a 16 players QD that is going to be reduced to 12 if the WC will be assigned.
In the 32 players MD tournaments, we will have a 32 players QD, reduced to 28 if the WC will be given. If you don’t make the cut for the QD you can still send your predictions with the chance of getting in the draw as an ALT in case any of the players in the QD won’t send his …….
If the number of players in the QD is between 1 & 7 (for the 16 players MD tournaments) or less than 14 (for the 32 players MD tournaments) we will have just one qualifying round and it will be a all vs all round. The best 4 (8) scorers will qualify, reduced to 3 (7) if the WC will be assigned.
If the number of participants will be >8 (>15) we will have two or more qualifying rounds, with H2H matches and BYEs for the highest ranked players.
If during a qualification match both players forget to send their schedona, neither of the two will qualify. The "best" loser who sent his schedona will take their place.
    Ex.
    A vs B 0-0
    C vs D 12-10
    E vs F 9-8
C and E qualify, and D replaces the winner of A vs B match and qualifies.

    3. Main Draws

    3a. Main Draws composition
The main draws of international and premier tournaments will have 16 participants: 12 directly accepted following the ranking and 4 qualifiers (3 in case of WC). The 4 highest ranked players will be seeded while the other 12 will be positioned by a random automatic selection.
All 4 Slams and PM tournaments have a 64 players MD, while Premier 5 have a 32 players MD with 28 players directly in the MD thanks to the rankings and 8 will get there through the qualifying rounds (7 in case of WC). We will have 8 seeded players.
The number of available spots in the double draws will be half the ones of the single one. We will have qualifying rounds and in particular 2 qualified couple for International and Premier tournaments and 4 for Premier 5 and Mandatory.

    3b. Lucky Loser
The player who hasn’t made to the MD and has lost in the last round in the qualifying draw can still have a chance of playing in the MD. If they send the first round of the MD picks and a player already in the MD doesn’t they will replace him becoming LL. In case 2 ore more players in the MD won’t send the first round picks, the positioning of the LL will follow a random draw. The order of priority of the LLs is determined by the score in the last round of qualifying. LLs won’t gain the points assigned to the qualifiers. The LL spot is available just for the player who has sent at least one schedona in the qualifying rounds.

    3c. Bye
If the minimum number of participants for a tournament isn’t satisfied, the seeded players will benefit from receiving a BYE. In case these players lose in the following round they will gain just the R1 points.
The least number of players signed up for a WTA tournament in order of it to be played is 8.

    3c. Wild Card
The tournament director of each tournament can award a player of a WC just once per event. The tournament director is the winner of the last edition of the event. The WC announcement deadline has been previously described.

    4. Doubles

    4a. Doubles
The double competition follows the same rules and procedures of the single one, here, obviously, the players will face each other in teams.
The predictions you should guess are the same you have to guess for the single competition, in fact the team’s score is the sum of the two members’ scores. So, a player, who sends his Schedona for the single competition has automatically sent it for the double competition too. In case of a tie read the description in the Tie Break section.

Only the teams of which both players have always sent their schedonas in the qualifying draws might have a chance to get in as LLs.

In order to have a tournament there must be AT LEAST 4 double pairs signed up

If one of the four player forgets to send, the pair, he is part of, automatically loses the tie (exception made if the same happens to the other pair).

The double ranking is divided in two sections: the Ranking of the single player in the double category and the Race of the different teams. The latter will, in fact, determine the 8 couples who will participate to the WTA Finals.
